Junior Fenland League report from Mike Harman
Piranhas took a mixed team to Newmarket on Saturday 7th Feb for JFL, some junior swimmers at their first event, others their age belying their experience at these events.
The result – 27 swimmers – 44 individual swims – 30 Personal Best’s – A team result of 3rd place overall behind Deepings and Ely, in front of Mildenhall and Bottisham.
Stand out results were – Josh Trinidad, unphased and smiling before his first 50 Fly at a gala, Jamie Coggins, back on the blocks for 50 Free having just swum 50 Breast 2 races before, Lorcan powering through his 50 Breast, the relay team working for each other, but in reality, all of the swimmers did their bit.
I don’t often get to JFL these days but for me what really stands out is the commitment and effort that all of the swimmers show – win or lose, and the support they get from their team-mates.
Thanks go to Will, Tom and Emily for helping Deana and I poolside (or were we helping them ?) and well done to all of the swimmers.
The third round of mini-meet takes place this Saturday 21st Feb. Peterborough regional swimming pool – meet time 17.00 for a 17.30 warm up. You MUST sign in for all events at this meet. The sheets are normally on the window on the left as you go through the entrance doors. If you are unable to attend please let me know as soon as possible.

Deana has asked for this additional information to be given regarding training over the half term. Any swimmer who usually swims in lane 4 at 8-9 on a Tuesday should swim on Tuesday 17th NOT Thursday 19th.
