Huntingdon Piranhas had an exciting evening of swimming tonight at the Junior Fenland League B Final at the Peterborough Regional pool. They smashed the competition taking the trophy for the first time since 2009, beating COPS, March Marlins, Deepings and Ely swimming clubs.
Huntingdon Piranhas fielded a strong team of 19 swimmers aged between 9 to 13 years old. Out of a total of 44 events the team secured 31 PB’s. The Junior Fenland League is a series of 6 swim meets across the region with 15 teams taking part.
Head coach John Richards said “this has been an amazing evening for the team. We entered this final ranked 5th. I am so proud that all their hard work and determination has paid off with such a convincing win'”.
The 19 members of the team includes 4 sets of siblings. They are: Millie Steel age 13, Beatrice Pauley age 12, Phoenix Wallace age 13, Jamie Coggins age 13, Michael Drinkwater age 11, Alice Lawerence age 11, Oliver Rana-Bradley age 11, Hannah Jordon age 11, Tyler Thacker age 12, River Wallace age 9, Ciara Walshe age 9, Dominic Pauley age 10, Olivia Mitchell age 10, Savvi Baxendale age 11, Isaac Lawerence age 9, Amelia Dunn age 10, Joshua Trinidad age 11, Emily Matthew age 10 and Will Coggins age 11.
